Co2 laser tube is invented by C.Kumar N.Patel in 1964. It is also called glass laser tube. Co2 laser tube is the main part for co2 laser engraver and cutter machine. Co2 laser cutter and engraver machine is widely used in fabric cutting,advertising,sign making,gift producing and other nonmetal engraving and cutting businesses.

Co2 laser technology already has many years development. Now, it is widely used in industry processing,metal cutting,laser marking,engraving. It is also used in automobile,ship producing and other industries. The wave length of co2 laser engraver and cutting machine is 10.64μm. The output is red light. It has 15%-20% conversation efficiency.

Now,fiber metal laser cutting is very hot. Fiber laser replace some co2 laser cutting in metal cutting area. Some people may think co2 laser is going to be outdated. This idea is wrong. It is because co2 laser engraver and cutter machine is still widely used in many areas for nonmetal engraving and cutting. Many natural and synthetic materials in CO2 lasers span 9-12 μ There are many opportunities in material processing and spectral analysis because of the strong characteristic absorption in the m-spectrum range. The beam properties of CO2 laser determine that it will still have unique application potential.

Some nonmetal materials can be deal with Co2 laser machine:

1) Acrylic

Co2 laser cutter is the most suitable equipment for cutting acrylic. Fiber laser can not cut acrylic.

2) Wood and MDF

Co2 laser can engrave on the surface of wood and MDF perfectly. It can draw beautiful flowers on wood and MDF. Other laser like fiber and YAG can not do this. Co2 laser also cut wood and MDF at fast speed,especially for wood with small thickness.

3) Fabric

Co2 laser cuts fabric at much faster speed than that for wood. It is because it is thinner. There is also CNC vibrating knife cutting machine can cut fabric. But knife machine can not cut acrylic as good as co2 laser.

4) Leather and Cloth
Co2 laser can both engrave on and cut leather,cloth. You can design your cloths,bags,shoes in the machine software. The machine will cut your design accordingly.

5) Tile

Co2 laser engraver mark on the tile. Tile can not be cut by co2 laser.

6) Glass

Glass and stone are same with tile. They can only be engraved on the surface. But you can engrave any design you want by your co2 laser engraver.

Plastics is similar acrylic. Co2 laser can cut it ver well. But co2 laser is not very suitable for cutting PVC because is is too smell. You had better use your CNC knife cutting machine to cut PVC.

9) Composite and other materials.

Co2 laser cutter machine is also widely used in cutting other nonmetal materials.

Generally, co2 laser engraver and cutter machine still have big market in nonmetal material processing. It is not outdated.You can not use fiber laser for cutting nonmetal.
