Compared with other cutting methods, laser cutting is generally characterized by fast cutting speed and high quality, which can be summarized as follows:

(1) Good cutting quality. Due to the small laser spot, high energy density and fast cutting speed, laser cutting can obtain better cutting quality; 

(2) The laser gas cutting incision is thin and narrow, the two sides of the slit are parallel and perpendicular to the surface; 

(3) The cutting surface is smooth and beautiful, and can even be used as the last processing process without machining, and the parts can be used directly; 

(4) After laser cutting, the width of heat affected zone is very small, the properties of materials near the cutting seam are hardly affected, and the work piece deformation is small and the cutting precision is high; 

(5) Fast cutting speed, for example: 2500W laser cutting 1mm thick cold-rolled carbon steel plate, the cutting speed can reach 16-19m / min; 

(6) For non-contact cutting, there is no contact between the nozzle and the work piece during laser cutting, and there is no tool wear.

Laser cutting machine can meet the cutting requirements of various materials and complex shapes, but in addition to efficient and stable lasers, auxiliary gas is also the key factor to ensure the cutting quality of work pieces. Nitrogen, oxygen and air are generally used as auxiliary gases in laser cutting.


Because the cost of nitrogen and oxygen is higher than that of compressed air, compressed air is widely used as auxiliary gas in laser cutting industry in recent two years. Its advantage is mainly to save production cost. The unit power consumption per day is 80 kWh (1 yuan / kW / h), which is equivalent to the working hours of 15 bottles (25 yuan / bottle) of oxygen, and more than 70000 yuan / set can be saved every year. And it can effectively improve the cutting ability and increase the cutting thickness. Compared with oxygen, the slag hanging is slightly more and the speed is slightly slower, but the difference is not very obvious, which basically does not affect the use.

Under the background of increasingly fierce competition in the industry, increasing the added value of products by improving the difficulty of product technology and the level of product industrial design is one of the means for most enterprises to obtain competitive advantage. As an ideal auxiliary gas for laser cutting, compressed air can not only help complete high-quality cutting tasks, but also reduce costs and improve benefits for enterprises. The compressed air contains water mist and oil. If it is not cleaned, the high-pressure jet will be sprayed on the protective mirror of the laser cutting head, which will seriously affect the transmission of the laser beam, disperse the focus, make the product impervious and produce waste products. If it is a ultra-high power laser cutting machine, as long as a little tiny oil film or water mist is adhered to the surface of the protective mirror or nozzle, it may also cause high-energy laser emission to burn the laser head. Because the price of the laser head of ultra-high power laser cutting machine (above 12000W) is more than 20000, and the suppliers of general air compressor can not deal with the oil and moisture in the compressed air well, many users of ultra-high power laser cutting machine are unwilling to take the risk of using compressed air as auxiliary gas. Therefore, the model selection of air compressor for laser is particularly important, and the special integrated air compressor for laser cutting came into being.
