Cast Iron Or Welding For Fiber Laser Cutter Machine Bed?

Fiber laser machine bed has two types: cast iron bed (integrated construction), welded bed (plate welding). There is big difference between a cast iron bed and a welded bed. How should customers choose when he is purchasing his fiber laser cutting machine?

1. Cast iron bed

Cast iron bed has another name one-piece cast iron bed in the industry.Its advantages are good wear resistance and shock absorption. Besides, it also has good process performance.

Disadvantages: high cost and longer making time. 

2. Welded bed

As the name implies, steel plate welding make the steel-welded bed of the laser cutting machine.

Advantages: high mechanical strength, relatively short production time, easy to organize production;

Disadvantages: poor shock absorption.

 A.Stability

To choose a cast iron bed or a welded bed, it is a process of thermal processing. Therefore, there are residual stresses in the structure of the bed after cooling, which will make the mechanical structure of the machine tool in an unstable state. C. Cost

The cost price of a cast bed is higher than that of a welded bed.  But some manufacturers reduce the thickness of the steel for casting bed in order to reduce costs. This may lead to a lower strength of the overall cast bed, which is not as strong as the welded bed. So when the user chooses, whether it is a casting bed or a welded bed, as long as the strength enough, the performance is the same.
